Ep. 44 - Visualize Your Goals To Unlock Your True Potential with Joseph Druther
Between contractors, carpenters, inspectors, plumbers, and electricians, both Elisabeth and Joseph's family roots are full of the trades. Joseph dropped out of college early to go back to plumbing so he could save up for a ring, and shortly after engaging, he and Elisabeth married and bought their first fixer-upper at just 19 years old. During those early years, they were relentless about achieving financial freedom, and even though they didn't make much money, they went crazy focused on getting out of debt and investing in renovating their house, one paycheck at a time. Slowly they replaced the cardboard with real glass windows, the woodstove with a real HVAC, and the broken tile and bare subfloor with real wood floors.
They then used that home's equity to do their first "real" Flip at 24 years old. Since then, they have bought and sold well over 10M in residential real estate, as well as purchasing Airbnb’s, small multifamily, and 194 large apartment units in Dallas and Columbus. They have built a reputation for quality products and integrity with everyone involved in the transaction. He loves Jesus, his wife, and his 5 children, and uses the gifts God has given him to steward his resources to impact the world. He is passionate about helping others wherever they are on their journey, so feel invited to reach out!
In this interview, Joseph discusses when starting your own business, it’s important to have a long-term vision and goals. He mentions the importance of having a system in place to help you stay focused. He shares that he typically works up to his 10-year vision goal, then sets smaller goals for each quarter in order to get closer to his ultimate goal. It can be helpful to break large goals down into smaller ones in order to make them more manageable and easier to achieve. “As much as I love my kids and I want to be able to be there and enjoy them. I don't want to overwork my business. Our goals now revolve around kind of what drives us internally. I'm able to create those goals and those visions because I have a clearer understanding of what I'm motivated by, why I want to get there.” – Joseph Druther
“It's really important to understand, you're doing what you're doing. And that gives you real clarity.” – Joseph Druther
